This policy explains what information Meventol collects, why we use it, and how you can contact us. We aim to keep this plain and honest. Meventol is operated as a small independent product; references to “we” mean the Meventol operators.
1. Information we collect
Account information: if you register, we collect details you provide such as email address, display name, and password (stored securely in hashed form).
Event and profile content: if you create events or update a profile, we store the content you submit (titles, descriptions, images, contact details you choose to publish).
Usage and device data: we automatically collect basic technical data such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP or your chosen market, browser type, and referral information to keep the site working and improve it.
Cookies and similar technologies: we use cookies and local storage for sign-in sessions, preferences (such as language or theme), and analytics.
2. Analytics and third-party tools
We use Google Analytics (via gtag) to understand aggregated traffic and which pages are useful. Google may process data according to its own policies.
We may also use privacy-oriented analytics such as Matomo, and Microsoft Clarity for session insights that help us fix usability issues. These tools can set cookies or process truncated IP / device data.
If you sign in with Google, Google’s authentication service processes your account details under Google’s terms. We only receive the profile information needed to create or link your Meventol account.
External event links: when you leave Meventol to RSVP or buy tickets on Facebook, Eventbrite, or another site, that site’s privacy policy applies.
3. How we use information
We use information to operate and improve Meventol, show relevant events for your market, keep accounts secure, prevent abuse, and respond to your requests.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your account email for unrelated third-party marketing.
4. Advertising (future)
We may display third-party advertising (for example Google AdSense) in the future. If we do, ad partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show ads and measure performance. We will update this policy before enabling ads if additional disclosures are required.
5. Data retention and security
We keep account and event data while your account is active and as needed to operate the service. Analytics data is kept in aggregated or time-limited form according to each provider’s settings.
We take reasonable technical measures to protect data, but no online service is perfectly secure. Please use a strong unique password.
6. Your choices
You can update profile details while signed in, or ask us to correct or delete account data by emailing the contact address below.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect sign-in or preferences.
If you are in Hong Kong or another region with data protection rights, you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of personal data we hold about you, subject to applicable law.
7. Children
Meventol is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
8. Changes
We may update this policy as the product changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Meventol after an update means you accept the revised policy.
