Masterclass Five Day Workshop with Gare St Lazare Ireland led by Judy Lovett and Conor Lovett This 5 day workshop for actors, directors and performing artists will focus on scenes from Waiting For Godot, Endgame and Happy Days and the scene work will include selected memorization of text from the plays. During the workshop Judy will provide an introduction to Beckett’s theatrical language and suggest techniques for unearthing the inherent physicality, musicality and visual language inside of Beckett’s plays. Judy will craft experimental staging configurations to demonstrate Beckett’s precision of stage direction and design. She will emphasize and explain how Becketts directions are symbiotic with his words. Conor will share his extensive knowledge of mounting solo performances alongside collaborative productions of Beckett’s plays and prose works.In these sections of the workshop, Conor will breakdown the importance of rhythm and musicality in Beckett’s language while stressing the importance of movement as a language function equal to the written word.
